About me

I've always loved exploring creative ways to serve others - since I learned that I'm an image bearer of a creative God who makes all things beautiful in different ways to bless. I was given a basic mirrorless camera in uni by a friend and it mostly sat in my drawer because I didn't make the time to learn to use it. As my friends and relatives starting popping out babies, one of my favourite pleasures was seeing a secret smile or a contented cuddle, and I couldn't help but feel what a 'waste' for such a precious moment to not be captured and linger on a bit longer. While working two jobs and managing various voluntary roles, I used every other moment I could get to arrange time with friends and their families, snapping away with my once-neglected little camera at all the little moments. Soon, thanks to instagram, I started getting together with the families of friends of friends.

I believe that the best photos are often the ones that capture those moments where it's only you and your loved one/s, where you think the world is not watching. I love portraits and the emotions they capture.

Sadly, the world we live in is not often what I have the privilege of seeing in these portraits. We live in a broken world, and, for many, family is not synonymous with love, security, peace, kindness, trust. In fact, many have been betrayed by their families in the most terrible of ways. Dignity Freedom Network (dfn.org.au) works with local authorities to prevent and rescue women and girls who have been enslaved in the abominable practice of the Jogini: Hindu temple sex slavery. It is the families that 'dedicate' their girls to this practice, which begins generational cycles that keep the women and their children in it. DFN works to educate and empower women and villages to stop this once and for all, and give them the dignity that is their birthright to feel loved, secure, at peace, know kindness, be able to trust again. My husband Andrew and I have felt very privileged to be supporters of their work over the years. What they do reminds us each day what we so easily take for granted. Twenty per cent of every family portrait session fee will go towards supporting DFN's work.
